INDONESIA October 26 - November 6, 2020

Diving in the Forgotten Islands brings you to incredibly rich waters and the area is typified by crystal clear water, deep walls and pinnacles, awesome overhangs and swim-throughs, beautiful pristine corals, huge barrel sponges and large schools of fish. Some of the islands are famous for sightings of hammerhead sharks. Others have walls with colorful soft corals and still others are current swept and full of reef fish. Anthropologists have long referred to the islands extending east from Alor and arcing up to Ceram and Ambon as “forgotten” because traditionally they have had little contact with the rest of Indonesia.

Only 1% of Indonesians live on the 1000 sparsely populated islands, which make up this area . First explored by the Portuguese who were followed by several European nations, including Holland, the islands supplied spices to the west during the 17th and 18th centuries. Today these islands supply thrills for traveling divers. Blue seas, endless reefs, and undiscovered seamounts fill most of the Forgotten Islands 850,000 square kilometers, which means abundant marine life and the possibility of first time encounters with masses of schooling fish or perhaps even a reclusive saltwater crocodile. On these cruises, Pindito will move slowly among tall volcanic islands and low lying coral atolls as we explore theundersea wilderness within the Indonesian archipelago.

The Pindito Liveaboard offers divers the opportunity to curise around this charin of remote, beautiful islands. With over 25 years experience, the MV Pindito is the pioneer of liveaboard diving in Indonesia. Lovingly built to the highest standard and meticulously maintained, Pindito continues to set the standard with her thoughtfully laid out floor plan and smooth sailing. In continuous operation since 1992 the MV Pindito's crew is unmatched for it's diving knowledge and experience in Indonesia.
