Discover the Hidden Gem of Caribbean Diving – St. Eustatius (Statia)

If you're looking for a Caribbean dive destination that's still truly unspoiled, St. Eustatius—better known as Statia—belongs at the top of your bucket list. Tucked away in the northeastern Caribbean, this quiet Dutch island offers some of the most pristine diving in the region. With no crowds, healthy reefs, and an incredible variety of dive sites, Statia feels like you've discovered a secret that few divers know exists.

Dive Untouched Reefs

Because Statia has escaped the mass tourism found on many Caribbean islands, its underwater world remains remarkably healthy. Vibrant coral reefs, abundant marine life, and crystal-clear waters create unforgettable diving experiences—and chances are, your dive group will have the entire site to yourselves.

Incredible Variety Beneath the Surface

Every dive offers something different. Explore dramatic walls, colorful coral reefs, fascinating historic wrecks, lava flows, giant boulder formations, patch reefs, and macro-rich habitats. Whether you're searching for tiny critters or enjoying breathtaking underwater landscapes, Statia delivers an adventure on every dive.

Dive Through History

Known as the "Golden Rock" during the 18th century, Statia played a major role in Caribbean trade, and its rich history continues beneath the waves. Many shipwrecks now rest on the seafloor, transformed into thriving artificial reefs covered in colorful coral and bustling with marine life.

One of Statia's most unique dive sites is the famous Blue Bead Hole. Blue glass beads, originally brought from Europe and traded during the island's colonial era, can still occasionally be found resting in the sand. These historic blue beads are the only artifacts divers are permitted to collect, making for a one-of-a-kind underwater treasure hunt. Even if you don't find one, the site is home to fascinating marine life, including peacock flounders, flying gurnards, and other unique Caribbean species.

Warm Water, Amazing Visibility

Statia offers comfortable diving conditions year-round with water temperatures between 79°–82°F (26°–28°C). Visibility varies by site but is often excellent, allowing you to fully appreciate the island's spectacular underwater scenery. The dry season typically runs from January through June, while the second half of the year brings occasional tropical showers. No matter when you visit, you'll enjoy warm water and incredible diving.
